Sometimes, shared Google Drive files are accidentally edited or deleted by you, or by another peer that has edit permissions on that file. There is an easy way to find out what happened by using the Activity column from the details menu of any drive folder you are a member of.

  • After signing into Google Drive, open a shared drive or folder and select the view details button.

"View details" button.

  • Once selected, two columns will be displayed within the details menu: Details and Activity.

"Activity" column.

  • Select the Activity column to view who did what, and when they did it. Exact times will only be displayed under the today section.

  • From the Activity column, you can be taken directly to the file by hovering over it and selecting the magnifying glass logo that appears.

File within "Activity" column that is in the trash folder.
