Release a Student from a Hapara Guided Session

Modified on Tue, 20 Sep 2022 at 10:34 AM

Some students may present in class with an error in the Google Chrome browser, whereby they are unable to access websites. Typically, the browser will appear to attempt to navigate to the destination of a link the student has clicked on or to load results of a search the student has entered, but the display will quickly revert to the page from which this action began.

The most likely cause of this error is that the student is currently in a guided browsing session through Hapara. This session may have been initiated by a teacher or staff member with whom the student met during a previous class period.

To release a student from a guided browsing session in Hapara:

1. In Hapara, select your current class.

2. Click on the Highlights tab to view current student browsing sessions.

3. If any students in the class are currently in a guided session, an aqua-colored bar will appear across the top of the screen, just below the Highlights controls bar, to indicate this.

Students in a guided session will show an icon of a target next to their name. This icon can be used to release only specific students from a guided session.

To release all students currently in guided sessions, use the Release all button found in the aqua-colored bar.

4. Clicking the Release all button will open a confirmation dialog window. Click on Release all students to confirm.

5. Students may need to close and re-open the Chrome browser for release to take full effect.
